Our house is in a great location; we are located just minutes away from the much-loved local and historic village high street, with direct access through the All Saints Church churchyard. On the high street, you’ll find a great selection of shops and cafes, pubs and restaurants. We also have excellent transport links; we’re close to the local train station, with trains to Tring, London, Birmingham, and Milton Keynes, and are just around the corner from the M25. Neighbouring towns include Hemel Hempstead, Watford, St Albans, Aspley, Garston and Leavesden, where you’ll find the popular tourist attraction Warner Bros. Studios.
Sit and relax in our light and airy conservatory where you can take in the views of our beautiful secluded garden, spend a quiet moment, or catch up with family and friends. Our residents like to walk and sit in the garden too and you can do some gardening too if you wish.
Our house is closely linked to the community to enhance not only the lives of our residents but older people living locally. From canal boat trips, coffee mornings, film afternoons to events throughout Christmas, Abbeyfield’s connection to the local community provides events that everyone can enjoy.
We always like to celebrate our residents’ birthdays and if it is a special one we celebrate by having a small party. We also have a visiting hairdresser and you are more than welcome to arrange additional services to come to you..
Abbeyfield is a national older peoples’ charity providing housing and residential care in their homes across the UK and internationally. As part of founding values and charitable aims they continue to champion the needs and support to older people.
It is Abbeyfield's mission to enhance the quality of life for older people. They aim to provide a service which offers a home for life integrated in a local community with high quality accommodation and a stimulating environment to maintain a socially active community that will directly benefit the mind, body and soul. As it was at their inception, volunteers continue to be the lifeblood of Abbeyfield, lending personality, warmth and friendship to their residents everywhere.
Abbeyfield is a membership organisation, with The Abbeyfield Society in St Albans being its largest society and the one managing the direction of the charity. The combination of the properties managed by The Abbeyfield Society, its other UK societies and the International Member Societies are collectively known as the Abbeyfield movement. The movement has homes across the UK and in six other countries worldwide, (Australia, Belgium, Canada, Jersey, South Africa and New Zealand) giving us the ability to operate genuinely local services but with a national and international reach of over 800 homes.
